Welcome to Year 3/4

Learning is fun!

Pancake fractions

We had a great lesson making pancakes and learning about fractions .

So many pancake problems to solve as well as other division problems!

We’re very impressed with the way the class applied their knowledge to solve the problems they were given. Lots of visual representations of their thinking too.

Fab work as always Year 2/3!

Pancake fractions

Dear parents,

We have been having a few technical issues with the blog at school (again!) so apologies for the lateness of this.

We are making pancakes at school tomorrow and linking it to our lesson on fractions. The children will be eating the pancakes once the maths (with clean hands) is complete. It will be mental calculations and not hands on so it will be as germ free as possible.

If you have any objections to them having pancakes or any allergies we may need to be aware of please let us know tomorrow morning (or drop me an email).

Many thanks

Ms Marsh

Homework projects

Dear Parents

Due to Ash Wednesday mass we are moving our project date to Thursday 15th February at 2.45 pm. We hope you can still join us to celebrate the fabulous work your children have produced.

Please keep projects at home until Thursday if possible as we have no room to store them.

Many thanks

These are the spellings for this week. They will be given out tomorrow on paper and we will collect on Tuesday next week. In case you wanted to get a head start…..

Year 2 words –

Year 3 words –

eight, arrive, breath, circle, fruit, guard, height, often, popular, eighth

The Y3 grammar homework is page 8 and 9 on Verbs. I feel that we have most of the books in class so these will be given out tomorrow and again return on Tuesday please.

Year 2 will have some grammar homework also this week. It will be sent home tomorrow.

Maths with Parents surveys (Y2)

Dear parents,

You will have received an email today with the survey to complete for the end of the trial.

The paper copies are still here in school – they seem to have been forgotten to be handed out to the year 2! I will have them on Monday evening at parents evening and would be grateful if you could fill them in then. It will only take a minute or two.

There is a prize for the class with the most respondents …. not that I am competitive or anything!

Homework

Apologies that this is late in being posted in accordance to what is on the newsletter.

As far as we know bug club is still not sorted. We will let you know as soon as it is back online.

Spelling and grammar (Yr3) should be back on track next week and the homework schedule.

This weeks maths for year 3 (year 2 feel free to have a go as well!).

Is the size of your foot the same as your forearm (from wrist to elbow)? Is this true for everyone in your house?

Are you as tall as your arm span? Stretch your arms out wide and measure middle finger tip to middle finger tip. Is this the same as your height? What about other people in your house? Is it true for them as well?

If you have a ruler or tape measure in the house, measure the length of 3 different toys in cm (y2 & y3) and to the nearest mm (Y3).

Regards times table rock stars the year 3 will be given their log ins next week and year 2 will have theirs soon! We have to do a lesson in school in the computer suite before the children can use them at home.

Many thanks
